2020 Families

The Davis Family

Jonathan and Carrie live in North Augusta. They have been homeowners for less than a year. Carrie grew up in the Augusta area, went away to college, and found her way back, bringing Jonathan with her. ;) Together they have lived in Augusta for 2 years. Jonathan and Carrie both work at The Center For New Beginnings as a Behavioral Therapist. Jonathan has an Advanced M.Div. in Biblical and Theological Studies. He hopes to be in full-time ministry soon. Carrie is currently working on her Master's Degree to become a Board Certified Behavioral Therapist. Jonathan and Carrie have been passionate about adoption since before they even met. This has been a desire and plan for their lives since they began a relationship. Since then, God's reason for that has become more clear, as they were diagnosed with "unexplained infertility". God has broken, mended, and brought about a renewed hope in their adoption journey. Jonathan and Carrie are so excited to meet their newest family member and to see God unfold the rest of their lives together!

The Martin Family

Justin and Melissa Martin, along with their 3 children Jett (12), Jacy (9), and Marek (6), have called Augusta home now for almost 2 1/2 years. They moved to Evans from Orlando and Justin joined the team at Journey Community Church as the Worship and Creative Arts Pastor while Melissa added GA to her real estate license and continued to work in all things house/property related. In the winter of 2018, they hosted a sibling group of 3 from an orphanage in Ukraine, and knew shortly after that God's plan was to add them to their family forever. They hosted them two more times as they began the adoption process, and now hope to have them home this year.

Hosting, and now pursuing adoption, has called them to examine and dig deeper into their marriage and vows, watch their hearts and the hearts of their children change and grow as God continues to work, and to re-evaluate every single aspect of how they do life here on earth with the time they're given. There’s so much to work through and so much God still has to teach them, but they know this is what their family is supposed to look like and are eagerly anticipating becoming a family of 8!

The Pharaoh Family

Mark, Julianna and their daughter Lily (5) moved to Augusta from the UK to be closer to Julianna’s family 4 years ago. They met in high school in Germany and have been married for 10 years. Julianna is a nurse at University Hospital and Mark works in compliance at ADP. They are members of First Presbyterian Church. Mark and Julianna and are so excited to get to adopt another child through domestic adoption and Lily can’t wait to be a big sister. They have been overwhelmed with God’s faithfulness, especially on this adoption journey, and are grateful to be participating in the Trot to Adopt 2020.

The Reckart Family

Ward and Becky Reckart live in Augusta, GA. They met 9 years ago and were married in 2012. Ward works at the University of South Carolina Aiken as a faculty member for the Department of Exercise and Sports Science. Becky is a Registered Nurse at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia at Augusta University. They are members of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. They adopted their first child, Adeline, in 2017. The desire to adopt has continued to grow in the hearts of the Reckarts and feel the Lord has led them to adopt another child. Ward and Becky feel blessed to be a part of Trot to Adopt and are excited to welcome home another child through adoption!
