Dear Trot To Adopt Families and Supporters,
For the past 13 years, we have been honored to run alongside you -literally and figuratively - as we support adoptive families through our annual Trot To Adopt race.
Normally, we open registration mid-October for our early December race, but this year, after much prayer and consideration, our team has decided to take a slightly different path.
As you know, the recent impact of Hurricane Helene has weighed heavily on our community, affecting local businesses, and per Columbia County Rec., the race course itself cannot be promised to be ready by early December.
As we’ve considered the needs of the adoptive families and the broader community, it has been a difficult decision to make. But, check out how God’s providence shines in the midst of it all:
We just recently received the funds that were originally directed to one of our previous Trot to Adopt families, who ultimately chose not to proceed with their adoption. This unexpected provision allows us to distribute funds to the two families who applied this year, despite the current situation. (Remarkably, fewer families have applied than usual, and we believe this is no coincidence - God has His perfect plan in place, even when things are uniquely challenging.)
Although we won't be gathering for our usual race this December, the mission of supporting adoptive families continues. If you feel led to give towards these families, or if you annually set aside funds for the cause of adoption, we would be so grateful for your continued generosity. We encourage you to use the button below by November, 30th to donate. As always, you can direct your donation to one family or split it.
Thank you for your continued support. Though Columbia County Blanchard Woods Park can’t yet officially secure the first Saturday of December 2025 for us on their calendar, please pencil it in on yours.
If you, or any CSRA families that you know of, are pursuing adoption, we plan to open enrollment for the Trot to Adopt to home study-ready adoptive families again in the Spring of 2025.
With gratitude, The Trot to Adopt Team
What does the Trot to Adopt do with the "split 3 ways" dollars directed to Project 143?
We're excited to introduce a newest addition to the Trot to Adopt in partnership with Project 143: post-adoption mental health support. Adoption marks the beginning of a lifelong journey, one that often has significant challenges to come related to what occurred or did not occur during the early, foundational months of life. Experiences in early stages of development such as abuse, neglect, prenatal drug abuse or intense stress can affect a baby or child's cognitive and emotional development, making mental health support crucial for both children and families. Funds raised as part of the 3-way split will go toward counseling and other mental health resources for Trot to Adopt families who need support. Please join us in praying for this initiative to make a lasting impact.
